ALMARS FINAL EVENT

Final Event of ALMARS Project was organized by Agriculture University of Tirana at 11th and 12th of January 2023. The event was held in the premises of Agriculture University, Department of Fishery and Aquaculture, with the participation of all project partners. The projects results were presented by each partner according to their respective responsibilities in the project. During his closing remarks, project Coordinator, Prof. Alen Soldo, Split University, emphasized the importance of the project for the partner universities and the future fishery sector in Albania.

Joint Professional Master in Aquaculture and Marine Fisheries

The Joint professional Master is opened through the order No. 580, date. 04.10.2022 of the Albanian Ministry of Education and Sports, in the frame of the EU funded Project “Capacity building for Blue Growth and curriculum development of Marine Fishery in Albania” (www.almars-project.eu), under the lead of Split University, Croatia and Polytechnic University of Marche, Italy. Aquaculture is the field of study related to the farming and processing of aquatic organisms (such as fish or shellfish), especially for food consumption. Fishery is the industry of catching and processing these aquatic organisms. A Master’s Degree in Aquaculture & Marine Fisheries develops an understanding of aquaculture principles and practices in nutrition and water quality, reproduction and genetics, hatchery management, ecology and physiology, husbandry and production, health management and disease control, products quality, aquaculture system and technology, experimental design and statistics for biology, fisheries biology and management, and bio-business.
Graduates from Aquaculture, Fisheries, Environment and Water related sciences, Biology, Economy and Blu Economy Related Sciences, who may attend this master’s degree, manage and regulate fisheries, fish farms and fishing activities and processing.

Meeting of Partners at Agriculture University of Tirana, Albania

Meetings among project partners and the Dean of Agriculture and Environment Faculty were organized at the premises of Aquaculture and Fishery Department, Agriculture University of Tirana, with the focus on the New Joint Master Curricula. The Meetings were organized in the frame of the Erasmus+ ALMARS Project and coordinated by University of Split, Croatia.

ALMARS STUDY VISIT

Università Politecnica delle Marche, Department of Life and Environmental Sciences, Ancona, Italy, 27-30 June 2022.
At the first day of the Study Visit participants were introduced to Teaching tools implemented during Covid pandemic; Implementation of the Moodle platform to support basic mathematics courses and Cuttlefish breeding.

The next day

The next day a Visit to departmental Boat Actea and explanation of the UNIVPM phytoplankton and zooplankton monitoring program was carried out. Presentation on the Uniadrion activities and Alternative aquafeed ingredients for a sustainable aquaculture followed the visit.
A Visit to the UNIVPM Aquaria Facility was also organized.
The third day was dedicated to the Visit to the Cystoseira restoration site at Passetto and presentation on: Ex situ cultivation of the habitat-forming seaweed Cystoseira for restoration perspective; Teaching fishery biology: from the general course to local case studies and perspectives and Fossa di Pomo as a new protected marine area.

The last day

In the Last day of the study visit the participants were accompanied to the CNR Ancona office which is founded in 1968 as a Laboratory of Fisheries Technology, and later became the Research Institute on Sea Fishing (IRPEM). In the early 2000s it became the Secondary Office of ISMAR CNR, and then entered the IRBIM Institute. Presentation and discussion on Fishery Biology, Fishing Technology and Fishing Net Laboratory were held during the visit at CNR premisses, which followed by Visit to the small fishing vessels.
